Alternately, she hires out the electrical work because he already works 40+ hours a week doing exactly that and she wants to make sure his down time IS down time because she loves him. Lots of people don't want to blue their home life and working life in any way. There's nothing wrong with that, we all need rest. It's not some statement about worth unless you make it one.

Alternately as well, maybe she's already asked him and he's procrastinating but she needs to get the electrical work taken care of because guests are coming, or she's stressing about the fire hazard, or whatever. He had his chance to 'be appreciated'. Now she's going with option 2.
