You're wrong in that. Men have been expressing their contempt and disdain at women, publicly, for years. Same little "jokes" and lighthearted asides.

And women have been expexted to not make a fuss and take it.

You still don't get any real pushback when this happens outside of internet/social media doace where anonymity and sheer numbers level the playing field somewhat.

That, of course, is disregarding the very real troll problem.

In real life, however, there's maybe an awkward moment, but there's no real pushback. Just gossip after the fact.
