You’re speaking in philosophical musings, which is great but meaningless if it can’t be applied practically.

I’m speaking of practical application of a philosophy as applied by one nation. In America (both Giancarlo and Disney are American donate subject to American jurisprudence) the First Amendment is not an absolute. There are practical limits to free speech as set by law and Supreme Court case precedent.

Also, it doesn’t apply anyway because the First Amendment is a proscriptive law against the government and the government only, not private entities.

It’s not a First Amendment or free speech issue. Sorry, it’s just not.

In regards to so called “cancel culture" it boils down to this. If you (formal) have the right to say whatever you want as an American citizen, don’t all the other citizens have the right to say they disagree? Why is it okay for you (formal) to say something stupid just to be a jerk but not okay for everyone else to tell you you’re being an asshole? Why do you (formal) and people who think like you get free speech but then whine about being canceled when people who think differently disagree with you? It’s not like the left don’t also get raked over the internet coals by far right commentary and trolls for things they say. They complain about trolls but you don’t normally hear them whine about being ‘canceled’.

On a business level, believe it or not, businesses are not in business to provide platforms or amplification to fringe personalities. Unless, if course, that actually is their business and business model. Believe it or not, they’re in business to make money. Limiting liabilities is a tries a true method of securing revenue. It’s not personal. It’s not cancel culture. It’s not a violation of free speech. It’s business. That’s all. If your comments are so inflammatory they stifle revenue you make yourself a liability.

It’s not about hurt feelings or political beliefs and ideology. Do you realize how often you have to make inflammatory, vitriolic, violent, inappropriate, inciting, or hateful speech, comments, or rhetoric to even get noticed for doing so? With the possible exception of people in public life but then, public life is a choice and people who choose that life should always be mindful of their comments and actions anyway.
