You're right there, but the author said in her piece that if she had kept Sierra, there wouldn't have been any more children. They wouldn't.have been able to afford them financially, emotionally, or time wise.

She's most likely right.

It's also more likely, statistically speaking, that keeping Sierra would have ended their marriage. She would have ended up with a special needs kid to provide for alone. And you can pretty much forget dating again after the divorce, or finding someone willing to help parent a child with such severe disabilities.

Those are the realities.
