You're just setting them up fornmore disappointment and making it harder for them in the end.

We're not going to solve climate change. Civilization is going to collapse. Billions are going to die because without fossil fuels we can't feed everyone. We're headed toward a much warmer world. Can't stop that now. Its baked in.

If you want to give them hope, give them the courage to honestly face the truth of what's coming down the pipe. Teach them skills that will be needed for after energy stops being so readily available. Teach them how to pull as far out of consumer culture as they possibly can. Let them dare to inagine and dream about a different civilization or communities and how they might look.

In short, the focus should be on adapting to climate change rather than "fixing" or solving climate change.
