Your mothers and your fathers are. The media you consume is. Your religion is.

Don’t put it all on mothers. A lot of mothers do their best to raise their sons to value women. But let’s face it. When we’re all still soaking in a misogynistic culture, it’s a Sisyphean task and they’re the only ones even trying to keep that damned rock from plastering the kids huddled up behind them because nobody else gives a damn about them.

Not everybody is going to be strong enough or hold out long enough.

And yes, some mothers buy into the ideology as well. Then they wish their sons would leave home so they could have some peace.
