Sounds like you're also making false equivalencies as an emotional reaction to being lonely. If you're lonely because you have a disengaged or hostile partner, her being dependent on you for financial means won't suddenly make her engage more or be less hostile. She might be more subversive about it, but you're still going to be lonely because your emotional needs aren't being met.
