You misunderstand me.

This is exactly what I’m talking about when I speak of accountability. We all have accountability here. All of us. It does no good to harp on politicians when we are the ones who chose them.

We are the ones who tolerate the lies. Like it or not, Trump was duly elected. He was not the people’s direct choice by sheer numbers but he was our choice because we also elect those who uphold an antiquated electoral college process because it serves the minority.

The outrage at Trump is not because the lies were more numerous but because they work to destroy democratic representation, they are fascist in nature, they disenfranchise certain portions of the electorate (including both the black and indigenous populations of my state), they undermine faith in future elections, they demonize and try to delegitimize one party, and they led to an actual attack on the capitol and the hunting of political rivals with more likely to follow.

Because he is President, his words carry greater weight; his lies carry greater consequence.

So we should hold him and the others to greater consequence. They should all be barred from office.

I agree ultimate push should include both parties and it will end with a near total replacement. So be it. But start with Trump because right now, that’s the source of fire.
