It's not about jail sentences and it doesn't mean women never benefit in some small ways.

Do you have your mother's or your father's last name? Wanna know why? Because you live in a patriarchy.

Is your mother or your father considered the head of house and who makes most of the big decisions regarding the family? Wanna know why? You live in a patriarchy.

When your parents die, who the the inheritance or the bulk of the inheritance? Wanna know why? You live in a patriarchy.

Who's your head of government? Male or female? When you look at the totality of your government, how does gender representation look? If you live in many places, including the US like me, can you even say you've ever had a female leader? Wanna know why? You live in a patriarchy.

Is it changing? Yes, but I think it's clear to see we still live in a patriarchy and will be for years to come.
