You make some good points about looking for validation outside oneself to the point of desperation. And you're right, that's not a healthy relationship to be in. No where near it.

Make-up could indicate that, but it could be for many other reasons too. It would be an error to base a validation red flag solely on the presence of makeup.

You didn't mean to, but you also described exactly why (mostly) manosphere dudes get so soundly rejected on the regular. They're basing their internal validation as a man on whether or not they can get attention from and control women. That desperation is thick and reeks of desperation.
