You make a good point. Biggest difference between the 1918 Pandemic and now I’m that regard is the number of people who cannot meet their own basic needs of food and shelter in order to quarantine. Most of the population back then wasn’t solely reliant on grocery stores and transportation logistics to feed themselves. They didn’t have huge monthly payments for houses and transportation. They could stay home longer before it started hurting.
When this is over, we really need to address those issues as a society and as individuals. We’d be a lot better off.
Not to mention how we’d give ourselves back a stronger position to collectively bargain from in other areas.
