You know....the way you experience these things is not the way other people do.
Almost all of TS's songs start with a story. The depth exists within the framework of the story. That she chooses, within the stories of songs, to focus on getting oneself out of those angsty feelings does not lessen the pain and experience of these experiences. It also does not make them superficial.
Nobody listens to only one artist.
I agree with you about the importance of music durinf the teen years of helping us process what we're feeling.
I vehemently disagree that that type of work is the only valuable or wirthy of recognition of artistry type. Or that "feel good" songs are superficial.
You know, when grunge and then emo took over the music scene, all everything was was the type of music you're saying is worth validation. But now we have a generation of people who have zero freaking idea of how to be okay with themselves. Coincidence???? Probably not; there's definitely a correlation there.
You're basically disparaging Taylor Swift and her work for NOT being a perpetually angsty drama whore.
Might want to rethink that. Most kids could use some Taylor Swift in their lives so they'll be well rounded and less stuck in never ending loops of negative thinking and unable to deal with life without being incapacitated by anxiety.
And while were on the subject of music that helps you deal with life positively, most of these folks could use some Dolly Parton in their lives too. She's also another Tennessean who knows how to do capitalism up right. Woman's a damned National Treasure. Fight me on that. I dare you.
