You know that this adage is specifically refering to what you talk about in your article, right? That men are dependent upon women for emotional labor and defining their manhood whereas the reverse is not true, or significantly less.

It's not about not needing each other in a societsl.or baby making sense.

It also came about in direct response from the manosphere Influencers peddling the narrative, "you bitches best get in line because you need us. We don't need you. We're doing you a favor making your miserable lives worthwhile, " that's been poisoning the airwaves for a few years prior.

It's not about misandry and it's not about putting men down. It's about protecting our own space and autonomy from the rabid misogynists who are always there, looking to attack women to build themselves up.

Something else men need women for. Restoring lost confidence.

Good luck with your men's groups. Maybe if you men can learn to support each other these constant attacks on women and women's spaces would end.
