You always think it's just you. And then everyone is always shocked to find out how prevalent suicidal thoughts really are.
That doesn't make everyone who's thinking these thoughts actually suicidal. It's a long slow road down to suicidal ideation.
Realizing I was on that road early on snapped me out of it. I checked out emotionally. Put my heart and energy elsewhere. Salvaged some basic part of my spirit before it got all chewed up. Ended up divorced, of course, thank God.
There's more of us out there that marriage has destroyed some intrinsic part of our being than you'd think. We go into it with our all. We assume our partner does too.
Squirrels shouldn't marry chiupmunks. Chipmunks shouldn't be allowed to marry.
