....yet. Sexual trauma doesn't work like that. It stays with you the rest of your life. The stats are something like 1 in 3 attempt or seriously contemplate suicide within the first 10 years.
Nearly everyone punishes themselves. Excessive risk taking, addiction, self harming in various ways. You lose the ability to bond, you can't trust. Sexual promiscuity post rape is also very common.
This is what rape does to a person. It's no different or worse if you're a man or a woman. It destroys you.
And society will blame you rather than the person who raped you. I honestly believe that the chronic and callous victim blaming is the reason for the behavioral extremes and self harm. Like, it would be bad enough if you got the sympathy and care you deserve but without that support and care you just want to end.
What we do to rape victims and sexual assault survivors as a society is a form of violent ostracization.
