We know that too. We do need to start drawing down though. Drawing down means it's measured and slow(er), not that everyone just stops working. It also encompasses more than just work, like having fewer children.

The economy is going to collapse anyway. No economy in the history of forever has ever survived an environmental collapse.
Once the environment goes, the economy goes.

We're talking about not being so blithe about driving it off a cliff at top speed. We're talking about as many people as possible deliberately slowing it down and preserving as much as they can so more will survive the inevitable fall.
