Yes, he should be remembered as he was. That means the good as well as the bad.

J Byt has a point too. European imperialism occurred because they had a few advantages over the cultures they dominated. Europeans weren’t the first. They’re not the only one in recent time. Nor will they be the last.

All cultures live and die. When Western culture falls, the one that replaces it will do the same thing, regardless of race.

Let us also not forget that European cultures were diverse and tribal before they were conquered by Rome. The British Isles themselves housed several remarkable cultures. Western culture formed from the decendants of those occupied lands after the fall of Rome.

In the end, all small tribal cultures are at risk of predation from any empire. It will be that way until humans stop building empires.
