Yes, but no Christian is being persecuted for their beliefs. They are being disagreed with.
No Christian is being prevented from practicing their beliefs. They are being prevented from breaking the law.
I'll give an examle. When I was in college there was one of those street corner preachers you mentioned. He used to gurl obscenities at young women as they passed by on the concourse. Every day. Bitch. Jezebel. Harlot. Witch. Whore. Defiler. What have you. Then scream, "REPENT!"
He was ignored because he was an absolute nut. Crazy as a loon and no friend to Jesus, but well within his rights to proselytize. Nobody stopped him though there were many many complaints.
It became an absolute gauntlet because he attracted the attention of groups of male students who would camp out to watch young women being degraded, humiliated, and harassed. And add to it with their own heckling, though not in the name of Jesus. Just for fun, as they do.
Eventually, the guy crossed the line I to criminal harassing and was promptly barred from campus.
You cannot break the law in the practice of your religion. There are statutes for harassment and assault. Even 3rd degree, civil or criminal code, and you've gone too far.
Dorn violated civil code when those young women asked him politely to leave them alone and he kept badgering them.
You have the right to proselytize and evangelize. You don't have the right to force it on others who have clearly stated they are not interested.
Pushback on harassing behavior is not persecution. It is a response to rudeness and a failure to respect people's personal boundaries.
