Yes, but in situations of violence that's not always enough. Your cards can be destroyed. Your ID can be taken from you. Your bank account can be pilfered by an intimate partner who has gained access to your passwords, etc.

It's true that those things can and will be restored to you in due time but it takes a guy 2 minutes or less to kill you while you're waiting.

An access to resources he knows nothing about is real protection and allows you to bug out if you need to.

You need to be able to walk out the door with your keys and your kids and not look back.
