Yes. Absolutely. We have been.

Frankly, that's one of the reasons a lot of the bullsgit coming from men is always so disappointing.

As an individual, I'm not reaponsible for racism in this country. I didn't create it. I don't like it. I think it's stupid.

But I've also benefitted from it, in ways seen and unseen. Sometimes even when I'm trying to refuse the "perk" out of fairness, it will be foisted on me from a POC (internalized racism). I have examples.

Even so, that does not give me a pass from the anger folks may feel toward the group that has oppressed them. It's not like they're attacking me or blaming me for it, as an individual.

The best thing I can do for them is try not to get defensive and take it personally because it's not, not try to force any kind of interaction, give thrm time and space to heal. Listen to what they have to say.

When you think about it, that's not a hard ask.

It's basic citizenship really, as being a citizen of a multicultural country. It's even in our founding documents that all citizens are guarantees the right to redress grievances. I grant you, that's legally and aimed toward the government, not fellow citizens but it's also not big leap when the government is not ensuring that all citizens are getting a fair shake and chance at life, as promised.

I get that it can't, because a lot of this bias is social.

Well, that means social redress of grievances.
