Yep. Just because white evangelical women supported Trump or GOP prior to this election doesn’t mean they regularly voted. As a broad group, I don’t think they do. Their husbands do and they consider that to be their vote too because they are “one flesh”.

Also, they’ll tell you they support Trump but they can’t tell you why. If they don’t buy the rhetoric coming out of the GOP, all that means is that they don’t believe Democratic rhetoric either.

The misogyny issue is somewhat interesting in the surprise around it. Misogyny is nothing new and when it is this pervasive I’m society. it’s just a matter of degrees really. All you can take from that is that one doesn’t care if he got got because he can afford the lawsuits and the other wants you to think he’s a nice guy because he wants your vote. There’s not been a single President who has not harmed or failed to prevent Congressional harm to women in 50+ years. Not one. Some of Biden’s decisions will be unduly harmful to women too. So for women who would be a swing voter, when you say, “But the misogyny!”, they’re going to sarcastically reply, “Shocker! And later in the news, water is still wet.”

That’s just the way it is. It doesn’t mean you approve of the behavior, it doesn’t mean you like things being this way, it means you recognize misogyny will not be fixed by choice of President and that it’s as much or more of a cultural, economic, and religious (yep) problem than a political one.

It’s a weird sort of self apathy isn’t it? But that’s kind of where we are, post #MeToo, which was a double edged
sword. The pernicious backlash coupled with IRL attacks and harassment made clear the path forward isn’t going to be what we thought and hoped for.

I’d put focus on the lifeboat scenario to explain the shift you’re looking at. Republican rhetoric was much better at pushing the narrative that Biden would do another lock down than Biden was in refuting it. Fox news really hammered the idea nonstop and they are the largest viewership news station of MSM. If you believed that any help you get will be Covid relief from Congress, your vote is a choice between voting for Biden and hoping (against hope) that McConell doesn’t get reelected knowing that if he does, he’s already promised to continue obstructing the Democrats or voting for Trump where there won’t be any aid either, but at least you can work because Republicans don’t want lock downs.

Most of us don’t get a choice about McConell. I’m glad Biden won. It’s unfortunate for the country that McConell did. At this point, I just hope Biden and Harris have the cajones to use her Constitutional prerogative to sit as President of the Senate to get that bastard out of the way. Whether or not they do may depend on the Georgia senate runoff giving them at least an even balance in the Senate. So let’s keep our fingers crossed.
