For one thing, in general women were left more alone back then. "Femininity" and womanhood bullshit wasn't being shoved down their throats 24/7. They had an easier time avliding what was there if they wanted to. Very hard to do that today.
Marketing propaganda using sex to sell products wasn't as ever present either, even though objectively, it was far more misogynistic back then. It wasn't everywhere you turned around.
I didn't say all women hated their husbands. I said there was venting over coffee. If you got along with your husband okay, you were generally the ear for someone who didn't. That's all.
Either way, doesn't mean you were 'happier with men'. You didn't have other options, so you kept the peace. That's not got anything to do with your internal happiness and contentment, which was mixed for most women, same as today.
Also, you didnt have thenproblems on the street and the drug problems then as you do today. People in general have a lot more to be stressed about. That affects happiness nd contentment. Women are people, it seems, not unfeeling or unaware aliens.
