Yeah. You're applying what they said about generalized trends of viruses and pandemics to one specific instance.
Then you're applying what they said about specific variants to other variants.
Then you're ignoring what was said and has continued to be said about comorbidities from the very beginning.
For the record, I have disagreed with much of the public messaging around Covid. I am not an expert, but I am also not ignorant about infectious disease. I know more than most lay people actually because I have a degree in wildlife science and have taken graduate level course work in evolution, epidemiology, and pathobiology.
All statements made by the CDC have been equivocated as is usual for scientists. Recognizing that doesn't make me brainwashed, it means I understand the English language and what phrases like "we expect", "what we usually see", "generally speaking", "most of the time", and "the usual trend" mean. It also means that, having done well in maths and statistics as well, I understand what averages, trends, and correlations are and how they work.
