Yeah well, there are plenty who still deny what it's done to women too, all while smoking cigars and kicking back high end brandy while flapping around stacks of green and chuckling about how sex sells.
Whatever makes money is protected. Regardless of the damage it causes. People are commodities to be exploited and everyone is on their own. Welcome to the Ayn Rand utopia brought to you by neoliberalism.
In order to continue economic growth of the beauty business, more dollars must be pumped into it. Women are tapped out. Man wallets are the only ones left. It was inevitable.
Only instead of starving themselves or self harming in some way, men are killing themselves because those who peddle their wares using sex have convinced them that they aren't attractive enough or good enough to attract a mate. Or, they're killing or planning to kill others, particularly women.
Because that's the way it goes. When things go wrong with women, real or not, they most often hurt themselves. When things go wrong with men, real or not, they have a tendency to hurt women in equal or greater measure to hurting themselves.
And nothing or no one can make this better for them other than helping them realize the lie. They were always good enough. They were always okay. So many just want to believe that lie though. They're invested and entrenched.
There's no work done yet about the sexually exploitive marketing of men's bodies that I know of. But, the mechanics of how it works are going to be about the same. If you want to start to get a handle on it, read The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf. It's what's started turning the tide in women's perceptions of themselves in regards to marketing and appearance. We women obviously still have a long way to go.
For you men... the quicker you get a handle on it the easier it will be to protect yourselves and your sons from it and get the word to others and the less devastating the fallout will be overall individually and societally.
I wish you the best. I wish I could snap my fingers and make it go away. But it makes money so It's protected where you and I are not.
