Yeah, that was kind of hurtful, but not surprising. Personally, I find that dynamic inna lot of Republican behavior. They want to keep their blinders on and continue partying like it's 1999, as the song goes, then they get pissy when you pull the flaps back a bit and more so when it turns out they should have listened.

You’re right about the constantly shifting risk calculations too. It’s not doomsday, it’s trying to keep survivability percentages from slipping by re-evaluating risk when necessary. Like, when say, deciding whether or not to take that job in California that’s facing yearly wildfires and an upcoming ARkstorm event (it’s been 160 yrs since the last one and that’s the average over the last 1000 yrs or so) or the one in red state America where people can’t be bothered to follow health mandates during a pandemic.
