Yeah, I don’t remember that either. I might remember an article asking if he was a Democrat messiah, as in was he going to save the Democrat party, or be “the one" to cross the finish line, as in the first black President. But that was a click bait title on a political opinion hit piece.

I don’t recall him ever claiming to be a Messiah, being called that by the public at large, or even just Democrats.
