I was not allowed to take the driver's license exam before taking dad through a mechanical safety inspection, pointing out and naming all the major engine parts, changing a tire and assisting in an oil change, doing a 3 point turn, parallel parking, holding a manual transmission vehicle on an incline without rolling using only the clutch and the gas, and demonstrating proficiency at pulling a hitched trailer.

And this guy didn't know you could just go buy jumper cables to have in your car.
