Yeah, except that 50 shades wasn't abuse. It was consensual.
The fantasy for women though about the over the top 'masculinity' is not about the masculinity. It's a taming fantasy. In nearly every single one of them, in the end he bows to her will and becomes her agent. Think about it. They're all reverse "Taming Of The Shrew" stories.
They're Beauty and the Beast. Her beauty gives him a reason to set the beast aside and be a prince.
That's the fantasy. That the guy willingly gives up or sets aside the haraher aspects or representations of masculinity in order to be tolerable being around.
So it's not that women are attracted to Uber masculine men. They're drawn to fantasies where the man gives it up for them.
And it is HILARIOUS that so many of these guys investing in marketed masculinity don't see that. They bought something disposable and are insisting it has value and you want it.
Yet everybody knows if you show up with roses on Valentine's Day those roses better be real and not artificial. And you know what's gonna happen if you show up with a cheap, fake gas station convenience store rose too, don't ya?
There's no difference.
