Yeah, discourse in the 90's was much better and you're right. If you weren't criticizing both sides back then, you weren't doing your job as a voter.

You mentioned sloganeering. I do believe a huge part of our problem lies in the rise of social media and Twitter in particular. You can't really break down a 1000 page piece of legislation meaningfully in a tweet. And yet, that's exactly where we are.
