Men who perceive themselves as high value men come at the phrase more in it's original economic sense, but they twist the end.
For them, being high value means they have attributes they believe will attract a woman to invest in them so that they can extract disproportionately more value from her than that original investment in having/maintaining those original sttraxtive attributes.
Explains a lot, doesn't it?
