Yeah. About half the Gen Xers too.

I’m sure most of Gen Y who are far enough along that they actually understand the differences want out of capitalism too.

Trouble is, it’s just a choice in the end. Any economic system you choose has it’s pros and cons. Capitalism that is properly regulated works fairly well. As well as any other that is run properly and equitably. Even communism.

If we changed from capitalism to democratic socialism right now it would be a disaster. But not because socialism is bad. Because the same people who have wrecked our previously functioning capitalist system would still be in charge. What do you think they’ll do with a shiny new socialist system to play with? Same thing.

The socialism we’d end up with would be more like Venezuela than Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Canada, etc.

In the end, nothing will get better until we change ALL the elements that need changing. That means making better choices over who we put in office federally and locally. Doing more than saying what we want and expecting others to do the work of giving it to us, we need to lay out actionable plans to get from here to there and get to work. We need to educate ourselves better so we understand what and who we’re voting for. We need to start holding corrupt politicians personally responsible with class action law suits. If they’re going to rob us blind, then we need to strip them of every asset they have. And so forth and so on.
