If you take the kids, you're unlikely to find a foster care situation that will keep them together. If they deprogram and the parents do not, it's likely that the parents will then reject them.

Is she spinning the press to appease the church elders? Is she afraid of losing her children because she cannot financially support them?

Has the state come in like a sledge hammer because theyre more interested in a prosecution than providing real help, just like she was likely taught to believe, that any overtures of getting them out have no credence with her?

It's also possible that seeing how she's being flayed in the media by sticking by that scumbag might be what's needed to rattle her cage enough to see past Fundie doctrine and choose her children rather than her predator husband.
