Women don't attempt suicide to get attention. That's sexist bullshit.

It's true the psychology is slightly different, but not in regards to sincerity of attempt.

Women do it out of fatigue. They just want it all to end. The want to go to sleep and not wake up. They also think a great deal about how they'll be found. They don't want to leave a mess.

As in life, suicidal.men tend to be very self absorbed. It's all about spite, or going out with a bang. They never think about how they'll be found or who gets traumatized by that, as you described. They want the violence, and again, there's an element of spite to that.
