I agree that it stems from feelings of abandonment, neglect, or gaslighting and that historically, you looked at home.

Increasingly though, a lot of young people are feeling that abandoned, neglected, and gaslit by society. And why wouldn't they? Increasingly they are being told they don't matter from every avenue. Can we fault them for refusing to be blind about what's going on around them?
