Which does nothing to negate the fact that babies are an inconvenience. They’re also not the return on investment they used to be.

Sad facts, but facts. Is it any wonder more mothers are becoming resentful of the expectations of motherhood? The work has increased. The blame and shame when a kid turns out bad or screws up has increased. You’re overall portion of the economic and social status decreases with motherhood and you can’t catch up. The time period they are under your care has extended nearly a decade. It’s isolating and the only people who will spend engage with you are hyper competitive via infant proxy. And you can’t count on the years you spent taking care of them being reciprocated in your old age. You’ll be dumped at the old folks home and forgotten.
