Which does not change the fact that you are not systemically discriminated against because of your maleness. There is no bias placed against you for being male. You have never been denied any rights of personhood, access to opportunity or the means to self determine your own life because you are male.

You may have and probably have because you are gay. Just as I have because I am a woman. It does not matter that we are white, in regards to what is causing the bias against us. The bias and discrimination itself is coming from your sexual orientation and my gender.

That does not mean that we are not both advantaged compared to someone else because of our whiteness, your maleness, and my heterosexual normalcy (which is marginal).

And you're right, being male means you're more likely to respond to certain pressures of life in the hierarchy in a certain way. There's overlap.

But the point is that while it is absolutely a behavioral function of living under dominance hierarchy, it's not the system acting on or forcing you ....that's how YOU participate and cling to your spot on the ladder. Even if it equally harms you.

You are not being victimized by patriarchy because you are male. You accept the blowback and choose certain things and behaviors to secure and cling to your position on the ladder. For some authoritarian devotees, it's absolutely how they choose to enact patriarchy on others using maleness (or whatever) even though there is a price or a penalty to pay that works against your wholeness as a human being.

And it's mostly subconscious; for the vast majority of us it is learned. It's not because we're born that way or that we're evil because we're holding a certain position. It's because we've all steeped in it for so long we can't imagine another way to be...and anytime someone came along who could and was charismatic enough to help other people see it too... the system had to take them out in order to preserve itself. In some cases, the memory of that person was then morphed into an agent of state/hierarchy and used to reinforce the system. Some teacher from the middle east who lived about 2000 years ago named Yeshua comes to mind. There have been others.
