People who make outrageous claims like the one you put forth should be able to stand up to scrutiny and defend their thesis.

You haven't.

Having a PhD, supposedly, you should be familiar with both the process and the necessity. In fact, if you were serious, one would think you'd welcome and be excited by the chance.
You sure wouldn't claim that your time is being wasted. That's not how academia works either.
