Well said and an interesting take. Its a good explanation of the base, but left out the religious issue conservatives who at all cost provide support for this party. They just don’t seem to realize that the price of at all cost will literally be the country itself, thus nullifying their agenda.
And how about the ones who are intelligent and not bigoted but vote Republican consistently? Them, I just don’t get. Is it habit? Just hatred of liberals? Too much attention toward individual responsibility? There’s some sort of false perception there that renders them capable of seeing how Republicans have sold out their best interests.
I’m not saying Democrats are much better . . . we need a rebuild and update of our political ‘engine’.
If you think representative government won’t work anymore, what sort of system are you advocating for and how would you protect it from it’s inherent weaknesses? Ultimately, all government systems tend toward corruption, abuse, and disaster without regulation. So how would you protect the new one from that feed forward loop?
