Well now you're working yourself up into a rage lather and you've lost the through line. The author of the original article states that Americans don't care about the rest of the world because it's mostly brown and black, ergo racism.

Bringing us back around to the fact that not all Americans are white. In order for that premise to be true you'd have to be talking about them too. It makes no logical sense.

I brought up Greenland and Cuba as an example of the importance of media in keeping the public up on the happenings of the world. And yes, I stand by that.

I made straight A's in school. And there was a time you could hand me a blank map of the world and I could fill in every nation, every sea and ocean, and put a star for every capitol and name with 90% accuracy or better. I had the same education everybody else who lived where I did got. It was decent, but nothing fancy. I could name a lot of world leaders.

But I'm 51 now, it's been 42 years since that exercise. The world has changed. There are countries where there weren't before, some countries have ceases to exist or been absorbed into other nations, the names of capitols have changed, hardly anybody who was leader then is now (probably none). The only thing that's unchanged is the seas and oceans.

I also went through several years nearly a decade, of working 80 to 90 hours a week and several more years of being a single mom to a little girl. Like I said, I try to keep up as best I can. But I've got to sleep sometime. And I'm not spending all my precious money on every news subscription in the world to do so. I also can't afford the time expenditure to spend all day in the internet rabbit hole since there's little curation for truth and professional reporting on the internet.

I'm in the same boat a lot of people are in. It's not that I think brown nations don't matter or aren't important. I don't have the time to spend on every one of them.

The media plays a huge part in continuing education for adults in America.

I'd bet it's the same for working class in other nations. They know what gets fed to them. They know about their direct neighbors. They know about who's causing problems and who's having disasters. They know about who they have links to. I doubt many villagers in the Congo or in Zimbabwe could tell you off the top of their heads who the premier of Greenland is either. If they can, it's because their media has made a point of it. Why? They're too busy putting food on the table too.

So yeah I stand by that.

You can agree or not. And we can discuss this further if you can calm yourself down and act like an adult. Otherwise, have the day you deserve.
