You're also assuming that because as far as you know the men in your life are "good men" that they are and have been to all women. And that because that's been your experience, that the rest of us have been sold a lie.

You're a middle aged white woman who has led a life of relative comfort compared to most. That also means you sre ignorant of how much of our treatment from men is tethered to economic conditions. That comes down to an inherent feature of dominance hierarchies.

I hope you never have to find out, but you may be surprised out quickly some of those men you're so anxious to reconcile with and prostrate yourself before will turn on you and beat you down just to feel better about themselves and how hard life can be.
