We already do. That’s not the problem. The problem is there’s no easy way to redress violation of those bounds. It’s handled by civil suits and does not carry criminal penalty. They are hard cases to try and even harder to win.

But….the first amendment does not protect hate speech, slander, inciting speech, and it does not require outright lies to be published in the interest of fair coverage.
