Urchling and I were watching TikTok and saw a beagle that literally looked like a blimp.

It IS weird seeing dogs with gross morbid obesity, so we're right there with you on that.

Hope your Rottie rescue can get back to some assemblance of health, even if it does take a year or more.

It's wild to think about how it can take a tenth of their lifespan more or less to lose the weight and get healthy. Puts things in an appropriate perspective about how it harms them.

And then there's the other side of the weight spectrum. I used to work with neglected horses and dogs who had been taken from their owners when I worked at the Vet school in college. Mostly horses, but sometimes dogs. My previous beagle (mix) was a pup from an abandoned Blue Tick Coon Hound. Mom and about half the litter didn't make it.

I can't even imagine what kind of fool would abandon a Blue Tick as they're so prized, but somebody did.
