Untrue. You're talking about the variant in the Congo region which has a fatality rate around 10%. That area also does not have the staff and resources to provide enough supportive care to go around.

The variant that is showing up in Europe and now the New England area of US is much milder. It's from West Central Africa and has a fatality rate of around 1%.

There's a vaccine. If you're old enough (over 51) to have had a smallpox vaccine, your chances of catching it are greatly reduced. It's transmitted by bodily contact, contact with contaminated clothing and bedding, and large respiratory droplets.

It doesn't help to inflame fear and hysteria. Just stay frosty, keep an eye out, and take protective measures.
