Unless the fetus had died since the story broke, it's not dead inside her. It has Trisomy 21 and there is no hope for survival. It could die in utero at any time or live through birth. But if it does die inside and she is forced to carry a dead child to term, there's a significant peobability that she will lose the ability to have more children, which she wants.
