Ummm, Penguin… you can iron yourself some toast.
Really all you need is a dry heat source.
In a pinch you can make a decent piece of toast from a hair dryer.
If I was going to go to all that trouble though, I’d just build a fire.
I’m not gonna lie though. I can’t wrap my head around a grown man not being able to figure out how to work a toaster, especially back then. The older models only had one button and a handy pictograph next to a slide knob where you choose your darkness. Hardly rocket science.
Good post. My grandfather worked in a bank too and bailed a lot of people out behind the scenes. Something else we have in common. He didn’t like to iron though, his domestic contribution was keeping a garden and hanging clothes out on the line. Oh yeah, and taking the dog (Toopey) out when my aunt was at work.
Sorry to hear about yours passing. Good granddads are hard to lose.
