Trump is an example of the same thing. There was a taped recording proving his criminal and abusive behavior toward women publicly available before the election. There were court cases publicly available of suits against him, there was suspicion of fraud, and there were several credible accusations of assault and rape.

It didn’t matter to male voters. It never does. In fact, the opposite tends to happen. He got a boost of support from people rallying to defend him against the accusations. There is a deep psychological reason for this.

Following that train of logic should lead you to the conclusion that voting for this guy is the same as voting for Trump. It will be a vote for lawlessness, poor character, abuse of the public trust and moral bankruptcy. Only it will be out of the Democratic party instead of the Republican one. You vote for this guy and you vote to be exploited and abused. You vote for all the civil and social consequences of that. He’s unfit for office.

These things matter. There are plenty of people who share you political leanings who are of sound character and are also fit for office. There is a 3rd choice there. I’d put my effort after that 3rd choice if it were my district. Or I’d run myself.
