To answer your question, no, it's not offensive on govt documents.

On govt documents, it's flush across the board. Male and female.

It's offensive when it's not flush across the board because the language di.inoshew one and elevates the other.

Men and females. Men and girls. Gentlemen and women. Gentlemen and girls.

It's a deliberate choice. It matters.

If govt documents did the same thing, yes I would find that offensive. And I would probably correct their form for them and make a note of the form label or requesr a blank copy and register a complaint. And I woule big the hell out of everybodfixe that uses that form and the publisher of the form until they changed it.

Misogyny gets normalized in the small spaces and places. Sure, I could "get over it", but what kind of parent to my daughter would I be if accepted on her behalf casual misogyny all over the place? The things we normalize today become the world they have to live in tomorrow.

Sure, I could "get over it". But why would I let someone else rock my daughter's cradle? I actually both love and like my daughter.
