This is often the critical failure of coups. All the planning goes into the overthrow and nothing significant is prepared for after success. The result, all too often, is chaos and destruction. Think bull in a china shop. You may get rid of the china you didn’t like, but now you have no tables or shelves to put any other kind of china on. Your doors and windows are broken so you have no shop security. Don’t think that bull hasn’t relieved himself all over the place, so there’s cleanup. All your best customers are going to go somewhere else for their china.
You don’t have a shop anymore. You’re out of business. Congratulations. Well done.
The scary alternative here is that they do have a plan. We know what they’ve been saying and we’ve seen what they’re willing to do. If you typically vote GOP, you should be thinking long and hard about some likely trajectories based on the past 4 years, how disposable you are to this party, how likely they are to keep faith when they haven’t on anything else, and what exactly you’re willing to live with being a part of. They don’t seem to have any traditions, precedents, or ethical lines they won’t cross. If you, Reader, typically vote GOP…do you?
