This is an interesting perspective. It's outside the context of the article, which dealt mostly of very young coupling with older.

Even so, you're right in that sometimes love means letting someone go, or that that's the best way to honor your love for them.

Here, though, there's another danger. The danger of stripping your paramour of autonomy and choice by making that decision on their behalf. After all, she may prefer a shorter love with you than a longer one with another she settled for. She may want to spend her last years focus g on grandchildren or some other grand thing (like a community or advocacy thing) or even herself than struggling through caring for a declining spouse while she herself is declining. In such a case, marrying an older spouse may be just the ticket.
