This is a false equivalency and scapegoating. It’s not that cut and dried and it ignores a lot of context and subtext.
And what about race, any race, is apolitical in the first place? The reality is, though, that race exists as both a political and a cultural issue. It’s not all one or the other, and cannot be viewed that way when a vote doesn’t go your way or isn’t the resounding victory you wanted.
It’s ridiculous to expect cultural beliefs and desires to automatically align with political beliefs in the first place. Social problems are too complex to be solved by binary voting. Both political parties have historically failed both the black community and other minorities, including white women. Both have also helped. There is no guarantee that a Biden presidency will fix things for the black community; that is in fact, wishful thinking.
That said, I voted for Biden and I do think things will be better for the black community, for women, and for all of America over another four years of Trump. I agree with Rev Sharpton when he spoke at George Floyd’s funeral. Black people need the knee off their necks. Some of that can be ensured at a federal level, but most of it should be handled at the regional and state level as far as policy goes and through the continuing evolution of social and cultural embracing of all communities with each other. That’s beyond the purview of both political parties.
Demonizing white women does not work toward cultural inclusion. All it does is further the identity divides and make enemies out of allies. The Karen trope is coming home to roost in this regard.
Trump and the Republicans deserve ousting over destroying democratic norms, criminal activity, court packing, refusing to engage with Democrats and do their job, attempts to disenfranchise the vote, failure of leadership, gutting institutions with political cronyism, destroying checks and balances, being a patsy to foreign influence, and undermining democracy in general; not because of certain racial issues that are better handled locally or judicially, or the abortion issue, or the economy, or the pandemic (in general), etc. All the noise has blinded too many voters across all demographics to what needed to be done. People, all people across all demographics, need to wizen up and stop being the ignorant masses they think we are; fit for nothing but being used, abused, and discarded by the wealthy and the powerful, and also corporate interests.
We need to stop looking for a savior, stop pointing fingers, and start taking better care of each other. We need to listen and not be so obstinate in demanding adherence to singular positions. We need to make sure all eligible voters are engaging with the process intelligently, logically and emotionally but not hysterically and not with ill intent or hatred of or toward one another.
